Making Reading a Part of Children’s Lives |

Over time, RLF has provided more than 600,000 books for teachers and their classrooms — new, high-quality, children’s books selected by teachers to address their particular students’ needs and interests. |
Since its inception, the RLF has provided over 6,500 professional development awards and opportunities to Chicago public school educators from 463 Chicago public elementary and middle schools. |
Impact |
In a typical year, RLF conducts more than 1,200 hours of professional development for teachers and provides more than 60,000 new, teacher-selected books to enable teachers to implement best literacy practices. |
In a typical year, an estimated 63,000 students in Chicago public elementary schools directly benefit from the RLF network. The RLF approach serves all children in a classroom and not just a small, select group of high or low performing students. |
RLF is engages outside, independent evaluators to conduct on-going, formal evaluation to assess the outcomes of existing programs as well as to aid in the development of future programming. |
